Behind MGM Health Care
Ms. Manisha Gurung was born in Pokhara, Nepal on the 29th of March 1984 to an indigenous family. At a tender age of 6 months, she moved to India with her family. She was raised in a family of two loving parents with two brothers.
At a very young age, Manisha found the world of books very intriguing and became a voracious reader. During that time, her mother noticed that she had an innate nature of helping people.
As years passed by, she was intrigued by how people behaved. She spent most of her time reading books and observing people, which provided her with a great sense of understanding and sensitivity towards them. She was able to read minute nonverbal cues.

Behind MGM Health Care
When Manisha was 14, she came across a book on health science and was instantly glued to it. She believes that she has read that book at least five times. Every time she reads that book, she understands more and more about sicknesses and disease. This is when she decided to pursue medicine and become a doctor.
While she was waiting for her Year 10 results, her parents decided that her mother and three of their children should move to Nepal. Her father still worked in the Indian Army for another two years. She finished her Year 12 in Nepal and then went to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery in Tianjin, P.R. China.
It was a life-changing experience for her as she landed up in a foreign country where none of the languages she knew were understood. So, her old habit of observing people on how they talk and the objects they relate to have assisted her in learning Mandarin. After five years, she graduated as a medical doctor from Tianjin Medical University.

As a foreign medical graduate, she had to do one year of internship where placements were attained at many public hospitals in Kathmandu, Nepal. She sat for the Nepal Medical License Exam after a year. As soon as she passed, she started working in public and private hospitals in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
As a medical intern and medical officer, she was able to provide medical services to metro, remote, and rural areas in and around Kathmandu and Pokhara Valleys. She took note of all the challenges faced by people in the city, regional, and rural areas.
In 2012, Manisha moved to Darwin, Northern Territory with her six-month-old daughter, Aarika. She loves working, even more so when she started a job in both the aged and disability industry as a frontline worker. She moved to higher positions later on.
By nature, she is a very curious person. When she got an opportunity to explore the health and community services industry, her medical knowledge came in handy. Since she lived in many places growing up, she feels like she is a global citizen that can relate to everyone.
In 2019, she decided to open MGM Health Care with the sheer determination to provide excellent services adhering to the principles of human rights of equality and nation’s law.
